Datum theme docs

Datum is a Shopify theme for auto parts stores. These docs show you how to set it up and run it, step by step.

What Datum does

Datum is built for stores that sell car, truck and 4x4 parts. Shoppers add their vehicle once. Every part then shows whether it fits that vehicle.

  • Vehicle finder. A Year, Make and Model finder that reads its options from a Shopify menu.
  • Fit badges. Product cards and product pages show if a part fits, does not fit, or is universal.
  • My garage. Shoppers can save up to 5 vehicles in their browser and switch between them.
  • Only show parts that fit. A switch on collection pages that hides parts for other vehicles.
  • Cart fit check. The cart warns shoppers about parts that may not fit, without blocking checkout.
  • Tire size finder. Shoppers pick width, aspect ratio and rim size to find tires.
  • Specs and compare. Spec rows on cards, a spec table on the product page, and a compare tray for up to 4 parts.

The two styles

Datum comes in two styles. You pick one when you add the theme from the Theme Store. Both styles have the same sections, settings and features.

StyleWhat is different
DatumYellow accent. Made for general parts stores. The home page starts with the vehicle finder.
TreadOrange accent. Made for tire and wheel stores. The home page finder opens on the tire size tab, the home page adds a Tire size decoder section, and product pages use quantity preset buttons (1, 2, 4 or 5) for tire and wheel product types.

Each style has four color schemes: a white scheme, a light gray scheme, a dark scheme, and a scheme in the accent color. You can change every color in Theme settings.
